Meet Dr. Alan Carr

I love being an orthodontist, in fact I think that I have one of the best jobs in the world! I get to watch as my patients' self-esteem grows strong and their confidence improves throughout their treatments. I've developed meaningful friendships with my patients, and I've had the honor and privilege of treating generations of patients and their families. I have been an orthodontist in the Factoria area for over 20 years, and I look forward to many more years of smiles!

Education

I am a native Washingtonian, having grown up in eastern Washington and moving to western Washington after completing my undergraduate degree at Washington State University. I received my Doctorate of Dentistry degree from the University of Washington, after which I enlisted in the military where I completed a dental internship.

During my time in the military, I received training in various specialties of dentistry and general anesthesia. I also served as a dental officer and anesthesiologist for the medical officer aboard a naval vessel.

Following my honorable discharge from the military, I returned home to Washington and established a private practice for general dentistry in Bellevue. I enjoyed being a general dentist for about five years, but decided to continue my education. I attended the University of Oregon, where I received my certificate in orthodontics and once again came back to Washington. I opened my current practice in Factoria, and have loved creating smiles in the community ever since.

Continuing Education

Orthodontics is constantly changing, and as a practicing orthodontist I'm always looking for ways to take my orthodontic knowledge to a more advanced level. When I graduated from the University of Oregon with my certificate in orthodontics, I enrolled in a two-year continuing education program. Today I maintain my involvement in continuing education as a member of a monthly orthodontic study club. My staff and I also attend several seminars throughout the year that provide us with additional education and training.

Outside of the Practice

When I'm not enjoying my time spent at the practice, I'm enjoy my time spent with my family. My wife, Linda, and I have a son named Roger, a daughter-in-law named Breanne, and a wonderful granddaughter named Kaylin. We are also the parents of a 102-pound black lab, named Maximus. Some of my favorite things to do include hiking, camping, fishing, riding my Harley, pheasant hunting with Max, and most of all, I love being able to visit my granddaughter. When the weather's nice, I like working on my house, restoring and driving my 1991 M5, and doing yard work.

Having been in the community for many years, I believe in giving back to those who have supported me over the years. I am actively involved with annual fundraisers, and our community clean up and tree planting event. I have been a Children's Bible Study Fellowship leader for a few years, and I am a contributor to local private and public school auctions to raise money for education.

We also work hard here to preserve our practice reputation within the community. We enjoy learning about our patients' interests and achievements. We love to reward our patients for their support by holding an annual summer barbecue and carnival in the community's lovely Downtown Bellevue Park.
